The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation (GGICF) has announced its Fall 2025 grant awards, directing significant investments toward projects that strengthen families, enhance safety, and expand opportunities across Hall County. The largest award — $55,000 — supports the Village of Cairo’s new splash pad, a highly anticipated addition to Rasmussen Park.
The final meeting of 2025 for the Gibbon Board of Education was held on Tuesday, December 9, at the school where the board heard news of a staff member receiving grant funding for a project, that a volleyball club had been established, and considered renewing superintendent Dr. Vern Fisher’s contract.
The Knights of Columbus of Grand Island will be hosting their 39th Annual Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, December 24. The Knights of Columbus of St. Mary’s of Wood River and Sacred Heart of Shelton will “piggy back” on this dinner and will offer this Christmas Dinner to both Wood River and Shelton. The meal will consist of turkey, dressing, yams, corn, salad, and pie.
Chuck Roe was re-elected as chairman and Cliff Keslar was re-elected as vice-chairman when the Shelton Village Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 11.
