Safety First, Avoid the Worst

As harvest season approaches, the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) and Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) are reminding farmers, rural communities and motorists to prioritize safety during National Farm Safety and Health Week, September 21-27. This year’s theme, “Safety First, Avoid the Worst,” highlights the importance of taking proactive steps to prevent accidents during one of the busiest and most dangerous times of the year in agriculture.

Gibbon Public School addresses threat issue on September 18

A threat received at Gibbon Public School caused the school district to go into “Secure” status at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 18. A “Secure” means that all external doors are locked, no one leaves or enters the building, and classes continue as normally as possible. Students and staff remained safely inside the building.

Wood River Area Community Choir in search of individuals who love to sing

The Wood River Area Community Choir is starting its 23rd year in existence. Its continued success has been the dedication of a nucleus of singers throughout the area who are willing to sacrifice their time to bring quality and enjoyable music to the community. The choir is under the direction of Vincent Boudreau.

Irrigation season winding down!

With the recent rains that have pelted the area, irrigation trailers are being hooked up and pipe separated for the next stage of the 2025 growing season.
