For those of us who enjoy turning pages of a newspaper, instead of scrolling or swiping, we have some good news! After a couple of weeks of fine tuning some details, the delivery of the Shelton Clipper has improved for the majority of our subscribers. Most in-state newspapers are now being delivered by Friday, one day after our Thursday publication date. This is an improvement from the four to six days that it was taking for the newspaper to make it through the postal system, before implementing the changes.

This month, two area newspapers are closing their doors after more than a century of serving their communities and schools. The Beacon-Observer, which served the Overton and Elm Creek communities and most of the Fort Kearny Conference schools, will see their final issue roll off of the press this week. Founded in 1899, the newspaper has been a fixture in western Buffalo County and eastern Dawson County for generations, chronicling local life and serving as a vital link between its communities.

Celebrate Wood River Performing Arts Series kicks off the season with Omaha Street Percussion (OSP), on Monday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m. Omaha Street Percussion infuses drums and dance together to create an upbeat show that is guaranteed to get you clapping your hands and shaking your hips. Household items like pots, pans, buckets, and trash cans are used as instruments to help create an energizing and exhilarating experience that will be sure to get you up on your feet. Audience interaction and participation is a major part of the OSP performance experience. You will truly feel part of the show.
