Two local medical care providers were recently honored with CHI Hospitals Core Value Awards for their work with patients and staff at their respective offices. Andrea Johnson and Chelsie Doane, both of Wood River, were selected among hundreds of CHI employees in Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota during National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week.
The Wood River Fire Department and Wood River Community Club will hold their annual Halloween Party on Halloween night, Friday, October 31, at the Wood River Fire Hall from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

In the wake of at least three months of controversy throughout the Gibbon community and at monthly city council meetings, petitions are being circulated for the recall of Gibbon Mayor Leon Stall. Mayor Stall was elected last November with 378 votes to Matthew Branch’s 305.
Wood River’s Stick Creek Kids new playground equipment was open for business after a special ribbon cutting ceremony last Wednesday, October 1. Members of the Stick Creek Kids staff, board members, community members and best of all … kids celebrated the event. The new equipment is just east of the existing play area.
