Centura FFA finds success at district livestock competition

The Centura FFA chapter competed in the District 8 Livestock Judging Contest in Broken Bow on Wednesday, November 13. “Centura FFA had a great day qualifying a junior division team and senior division team for the state contest in April,” reported Centura FFA Adviser Abby Hadenfeldt. “The senior division team came away with district champion and freshman Ava Young was the junior division individual champion. We look forward to future contests such as LDEs on December 11 and CDEs on February 25.” Centura FFA members competing included, front row, left to right, Miyah Lemburg, Lamya Luckey, Taya Taukiuvea, Emma Jacobs, Addi Merithew, Claire Knuth, Emma Parr, Ava Young, and Emma Whitefoot; and back row, Bladen Rathman, Cooper Dubbs, Caleb Hostetler, Trevin Grabowski, Brooks Hadenfeldt, Gavin Whitefoot, Dillon Fanta, Mason Janda, Wyatt Linder, Aiden Grabowski, and Samuel Hostetler.

Pope, Janda take part in 20th annual Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium

The 20th annual Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium (NYBLS) welcomed over 40 students from four states to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus on November 8-10, including Shelton High School senior Justine Pope and Centura High School junior Mason Janda, to introduce participants to career opportunities and current issues in the beef industry, in addition to offering education and practice in leadership skills.
