After surviving a tussle with fourth seeded Doniphan/Trumbull in their first match of the C2-7 Subdistrict Tournament held at Thayer Central on Monday, October 28, the fifth seeded Lady Eagle volleyball team fell to top seed Thayer Central later that day. The Wood River ladies got past Doniphan/Trumbull, 26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 17-25 and 15-10, and then met defeat at the hands of the Lady Titans, 23-25, 10-25 and 14-25.

Wood River Rural High School senior Preston Kuskie and junior Hector Bonilla represented the Eagles at the NSAA Cross Country Championships held at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, October 25.

After trailing 16-7 after one quarter of play, the Wood River Eagle defense put its foot down and stifled the Doniphan/Trumbull offense and kept them scoreless throughout the rest of the game to post a 33-16 win on Friday, October 25, to improve to 8-1 on the season and set up a rematch between the two teams in the first round of the state playoffs.
