Despite an early lead and later, a comeback attempt, the Gibbon football team was unable to overcome the lead built up by Superior on the road on the Wildcats’ home field, and fell in the final game of the season, 19-23.
After sweeping Red Cloud and Silver Lake in the first and second rounds of the Twin Valley Conference Tournament last week, the Shelton Lady Bulldogs earned the 2024 Twin Valley Conference (TVC) Championship by battling past Kenesaw on Monday, October 21, on the court in Shelton, 2522 25-23, 21-25 and 25-20.
It was all Bulldogs all night as Shelton finished the 2024 campaign with a lop-sided 62-14 victory over Heartland Lutheran on the road on the Hornet’s home field on Friday, October 25, to finish the season with a 3-5 record.
The fourth seeded Wood River Lady Eagle volleyball team found the going tough at the LouPlatte Conference Tournament last week. The Wood River ladies fell victim to tournament fifth seed Ravenna in their first game of the tournament held at St. Paul, 26-24, 17-25, 26-28 and 26-28, on Monday, October 14. Wood River took on Arcadia/Loup City in the consolation bracket played at Centura on Thursday, October 17, falling 25-18, 32-34 and 20-25.
The LouPlatte Conference Tournament held at Central City and Centura was on the slate for the Gibbon volleyball team last week.
