Bulldog track and field athletes earn track and field state berths

On Wednesday, May 10, the Shelton boys and girls track and field teams travelled to Burwell for the District D-5 track and field meet. A day that started out weather wise as a little dejavu from last year’s tornado day ended with four Bulldogs punching their automatic bids into the state track and field meet and three earning a state appearance with their time as an additional qualifier.

Eagles Dimmitt and Oberg move on to state track and field meet

Harrison Oberg and Courtney Dimmitt qualified for state competition at the C-6 District meet held at Centennial High School on Thursday, May 11. Oberg earned the right to compete at the state meet by qualifying in the 300 meter hurdles and triple jump and Dimmitt reserved her spot at state with a qualifying throw in the shot put. As a team, the Eagles finished the district meet in third place and the Lady Eagles placed ninth.

Shelton students recognized for practicing “perseverance”

Shelton Elementary recently announced the April winners in the “Shelton Kid Caught with Character” program. At the beginning of each month, elementary students learn about a character trait and have the rest of the month to practice it. At the end of the month, one student from each grade (kindergarten through sixth grade) are chosen as the “Shelton Kid Caught with Character” winners. Students will be able to take a yard sign home for the month, displaying their hard work and character. During April, the character trait students at Shelton Elementary practiced was “perseverance.” Perseverance winners included, front row, left to right, first grader Roberto Martinez and kindergartner Kyla Walter; and back row, sixth grader LeTavion Dack, fifth grader Aubrey Shutte, fourth grader Myah Lozoya Federico, second grader LilyAnn Dack, and third grader Jefferson Thober.
