Yutan ends Centurions’ football season in playoffs

In the opening round of the Class C1 football playoff schedule, Centura’s gridders traveled to Yutan to take on the Chieftans Friday, October 23, a game in which the home team won by the score of 57-12. In the 16-team slate of play-off teams, Yutan entered as the fourth-seeded team with a record of seven wins and one loss on the season. Centura entered as a 13th seed with their four win-four loss record.

The Wood River Elementary students took part in “trick ’n treat” in the elementary library throughout October. The “trick” was for students to bring items for the local food pantry and then they received a “treat!” Students brought enough food to fill up 10 boxes to donate to the Wood River Food Pantry. Bulldogs battle frigid temps at state cross country meet

Shelton Bulldogs Steven Snyder, Xavier Hellerich, Christian Bly, Ashton Simmons, and Jose Montanez, along with the other 128 runners, saw the season end at the state cross country meet Friday, October 23, on the golf course at the Kearney Country Club. Despite the fact that the runners braved the coldest temperatures of the season in the meet that included 133 runners who had qualified for the state meet, three Bulldogs turned in personal-best times on this course.

Bulldogs claim TVC volleyball title

Shelton’s volleyball ladies, seeded fifth in the field of nine Twin Valley Conference teams, started with a bang in the conference tournament and ended with a dominant match over Kenesaw to claim the 2020 tournament championship. The “underdog” role was taken on by the Shelton squad, and they responded with wins over the fourth, first and second seeded teams in the tournament.
