The cast and crew of the Gibbon One Act Play “Epic Adventures in a Rinky Dink Art Museum” competed at the York K-dub Play Production competition on Saturday, November 14. Although no official results were available at press time, it is known that Tegun Catlin, Delany Tracy, and Kolby Heikkinen emerged with Outstanding Actor recognition according to director Taylor Gellerman. Jiromi Corona, a sophomore at Gibbon High School, was recently announced as the National FBLA Mountain Plains Region Middle Level Director. Jiromi will serve under the current national vice president for the Mountain Plains Region as part of her executive council. Her responsibilities will be: providing input and feedback about the region’s middle level FBLA chapters, participating in webinars, and representing Nebraska on the national level.
On October 29, Gibbon FBLA hosted an area meeting in the high school library. FBLA members from the Kearney, Pleasanton, and Minden chapters attended the meeting virtually. The guest speaker was Abbey Lambert from Lambert’s Pharmacy in Gibbon. She informed the attending members about her career path and how she started her own pharmacy and new ventures she is currently working on in Kearney. The volleyball fortunes of Shelton’s Lady Bulldogs came to an abrupt halt in the subdistrict championship game played on Kenesaw’s court Tuesday, October 27, as the Lady Blue Devils managed a three-set sweep. Before that, however, the Bulldog Ladies eliminated Silver Lake in the tourney’s opening round played the night before. The Lady Mustangs, by winning one set, made it a four-set game, though, winning the second set by holding Shelton to 23 points. In the other three sets Shelton prevailed by limiting the Silver Lake team to scores of 22 in each of them.
