A small but determined contingent of members of the Gibbon track and field team will represent the school and community at the NSAA State Track and Field Championships in Omaha next week after qualifying at the C-8 District meet held at Southern Valley on Thursday, May 12.
In addition to the Wood River boys track and field team winning the C-8 District meet held at Southern Valley on Thursday, May 12, the Lady Eagles placed third and Wood River qualified a large crew of athletes for next week’s NSAA Track and Field Championships in Omaha. The Eagles finished the meet with 89.50 points, outpacing second place South Loup with 81.50 points. The ladies placed third with 76.16 points on the day.
Despite Mother Nature’s best attempts to derail the D-5 District meet held at Burwell on Thursday, May 12, with strong winds, rain and hail, the Shelton boys and girls track and field teams qualified a good number of athletes to move on to the NSAA Track and Field Championships next week in Omaha.
The Shelton boys track and field team dominated the competition at the Twin Valley Conference meet held at Deshler on Tuesday, May 3, to earn the conference crown. The Shelton ladies finished the meet in fourth place in the nine-team field. Between the boys and girls teams, eighteen personal records were recorded by sixteen athletes. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 30, but was moved due to inclement weather.
Members of the Centura FBLA took part in the State FBLA Conference that was held in Kearney on April 11, 12, and 13.
