The DCB Seniors baseball team bulldozed through the Seniors Kearney Tournament last week, defeating Smith Center, 11-1, and Kearney Jersey’s Seniors by an 11-3 score, both on Friday, July 1, and then topped Grand Island U-Save, 4-0, and shot down Alma, 9-1, on Saturday, July 2.
The Dannebrog softball team participated in the 5-7 Softball League Tournament Tuesday, June 21, through Sunday, June 26. The tournament was hosted by Wood River. The nine teams in the tournament included Cairo, Dannebrog, Doniphan Black, Doniphan Red, Loup City, Ravenna Blue, Ravenna White, Wood River Purple, and Wood River White. The Dannebrog girls brought home a third place finish. Shelton native Craig Schutt recently found success in Special Olympics powerlifting competition at the USA Games held in Orlando, Florida, June 5 through 12.
The Shelton Public Library recently secured an internship grant which allows for one high school student with passing grades and is at least 14 years old from Shelton Public School to earn $1,000 working at the library learning about library services. The first such intern is Erin Gegg, an incoming freshman at Shelton High School.
Jersey Allan, of Wood River, and her Just For Kix dance team from Grand Island, found success as they competed at the Just For Kix Together We Dance National Dance Competition held at Rochester, Minnesota, May 5 through 8.
