Union Pacific Railroad recently announced its famed Big Boy No. 4014 locomotive will stop in more than three dozen communities during its fall tour across 10 states. The east bound leg of the tour takes the locomotive through the communities of Gibbon, Shelton, Wood River, and Alda on its way to a stop in Grand Island.

Shelton’s Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 12, where board members moved to approve a budget amendment to the nutrition fund for the new school year, mulled over replacing the school’s boilers, and discussed increasing pay for substitute teachers.
