The Wood River one act team wrapped up its final contests for the year, beginning with the LouPlatte Conference meet, which was held at Gibbon on November 20. All LouPlatte Conference schools attended.
The “Magic of a Small Town Christmas” was on full display throughout the day on Saturday, December 2, as Gibbon’s Second Annual Christmas in the Park was an unqualified success, drawing a large number of area residents of all ages for the numerous events. Events included a holiday market at Walker Hall, a P.E.O.
After receiving accolades in the latter part of the competitive season, and then competing at the LouPlatte Conference meet and the C1-5 District meet, the Centura High School one act play cast and crew are statebound with the play “WestWard, Whoa!,” The play is directed by Kris Simon.
Reception and ceremony to celebrate five athletes, a coach, and team
Smiles and cameras come out when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in town. The Clauses’ visit was part of Shelton’s Merry and Bright celebration held on Sunday, December 3, in the business district, presented by the Shelton Area Lions Club. Shelton’s streets teemed with activity as people of all ages, bundled against the cold and stiff wind, enjoyed food at the American Legion Hall, a petting zoo, hayrack rides, cookie decorating, family photos, a fire pit with s’mores, and kids’ games, “Christmas Read Aloud,” a raffle, vendors at the Historical Society, letters to Santa, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves.
