Mark Oliver, the senior member of the ‘hood kids who lived in the southwest corner of Shelton in the 1960’s through the 1980’s, has elicited memories of rivalries, competitions, injuries, and teamwork, along with emotions of jubilation, competitiveness, anger, and joy. “We all savored winning, but also learned how to lose,” he said. “We learned lessons that could not be taught in a classroom.”
The Wood River Community Centennial Foundation held the third quarter and annual meeting on Wednesday, November 3. The board approved the purchase of two AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) for the high school. The current AED at the high school has been taken out of production so they are no longer able to order replacement batteries or supplies. Working closely with the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department, they recommended the purchase of a Zoll AED. Currently the school has one Zoll AED in the fitness center and one at the elementary school. It would be beneficial to stay with the Zoll Brand of AED to be compatible with the fire department’s equipment.
