At the regular monthly meeting of the Shelton Village Board of Trustees, held on Thursday, April 14, trustees moved to approve a housing development on the eastern side of the village and approved the hiring of summer part-time employees.
For the first quarter of the year, the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation approved grants back to the Wood River community in the amount of $5,400.00. Grants that were approved included sponsoring an ad on the Wood River Rural High School scoreboard that will be viewed in the coming year at events held in the main gymnasium. A second grant was approved for the Wood River Rural High Fine Arts department for the costumes required for the spring production of Shrek. A third grant was approved to support nine students who will attend Close-up. The funds for these grants were from the earnings of the Founder’s Fund, the endowment account that donors have contributed to where only the income of the fund is expandable for grants.
Brisk, cool but sunny weather greeted Easter Egg hunters in Gibbon (right) and Shelton on Saturday, April 16. In Gibbon, the hunt was sponsored by the Gibbon American Legion and drew a good sized contingent of bundled up candy seekers who picked the northeast section of Davis Park clean. In Shelton, the hunt was sponsored by the Shelton High School National Honor Society and the Shelton American Legion and also drew a nice sized bunch of egg hunters to Veterans Memorial Park.
