Schools across the country have experienced challenges in filling teaching positions, but Wood River Rural Schools is doing something about it.
Beautiful fall weather brought out trunk or treaters Monday afternoon for the Gibbon Chamber of Commerce trunk or treat featuring local businesses and organizations on the bricks in Gibbon after the Scare The Square parade of costumes, providing much more fun than fear.
Shelton’s Halloween celebration on Monday drew a large crowd of costumed youths ranging from heroes of all sorts and a variety of colorful, creative attire who attended not only the annual George’s Goblin Feed, the hamburger-hot dog feed cooked and served by members of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department, but the trunk or treat provided by local businesses and residents, making for a fun, fear-free atmosphere. The Gibbon Parks Department, along with a few sixth grade volunteers, recently planted trees in the Gibbon parks due to the Ten Free Trees program, an effort of the Nebraska Forest Service and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. Through the program, the City of Gibbon received ten trees for the park tree project.
The time for voters in Buffalo, Howard counties to make a number in the voting booth is nearly the Tuesday, November 8, general election being held next week.
