Get Sauced BBQ and Catering now open in Shelton

A desire for a job with more flexibility led Becca Bunger to talk to her future father-in-law, Marlin Schroeder, about opening a restaurant at 204 First Street in Shelton, just north of the business district. Schroeder, who previously operated a restaurant at that location, his son, Justin, and Justin’s fiance, Becca, with her daughter Lena, and Marlin's mother, Irma Schroeder, decided on a family approach to a restaurant and Get Sauced BBQ and Catering was born. Marlin has smoked meat for some time and the restaurant uses family recipes which Becca's young daughter Baylea and son Briggsley, will likely learn when they are older. “How many places can you go where great-grandma makes two of your sides,” Becca said. Get Sauced offers shredded pork, chicken and beef sandwiches as well as nachos, smoked sausage, loaded potatoes, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, mac and cheese, slawsa, potato salad and occasionally brisket and ribs. Marlin smokes the meats, Irma makes the potato salad and beans, Justin makes the barbecue sauces, and Becca makes all other items and manages the business and day-to-day duties. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and catering is available at any time by calling (308)850-7032. The Shelton Housing Authority – Pioneer Apartments recently completed a landscaping project at the complex using Housing and Urban Development capital funds. The Public and Indian Housing (PIH) Office of Capital Improvements administers the Capital Fund. The Capital Fund provides funds annually, to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) for the development, financing, and modernization of public housing developments. Part of the mission of Shelton Housing Authority is to provide quality, affordable housing in a safe, well-maintained environment, so it is important to keep the grounds looking nice for the residents, as well as the community. The new Curb-It curbing, landscaping materials, and plants should be a wonderful addition to the complex for years to come. Executive Director Rosann David stated, “I am happy to have a part in making this a beautiful place, that makes all of our residents glad they live here!” (–courtesy photo)
