Wood River Vision 20/20 to host Marketing Academy

Hosted by Wood River Vision 20/20 and made possible by a USDA Development Grant to the City of Wood River, a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Center for Rural Affairs, a free “Marketing Academy” is scheduled for those just starting out or needing a little help to get the word out about their business on Monday, October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and Monday, November 6. The Marketing Academy will be held at the Wood River Community Center at 108 West 10th Street from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Wood River Rural High 2023 Homecoming candidates revealed recently

Homecoming candidates at Wood River Rural High School were announced recently as homecoming activities were planned throughout the week, Monday, September 25 through Friday, September 29. The homecoming court includes, front row, left to right, queen candidates Sage Brabec, Ruby Guerrero, Macie Peters, Addison Stutzman, and Dayrin Zarraga; and back row, king candidates Johnny Canfield, Waylon Cronk, Reid Graves, Adrian Lobeda, and Josh Luehr. Dress up days during the homecoming celebration included Pajama Day on Monday, Student and Staff Swap on Tuesday and Red Carpet Day on Wednesday. Thursday’s dress up day is Decades Day and Friday will be Spirit Day. A pep rally is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday on Ninth and Main Streets. The Eagle football team hosts Grand Island Central Catholic on Friday night where the music department split the pot will be held. Crowning of the homecoming king and queen will be held after the game and will be followed by the homecoming dance. (–courtesy photo)

Shelton Village Board appoints new member, sets 2023-24 budget at monthly meeting

At its regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, September 14, a new member of the Shelton Village Board of Trustees was sworn in to fill the vacancy left after the resignation of Dave Doremus last month and the board tackled several financial issues, including setting a formal tax request.

Setlik to present program about Margaret Theresa Mobley at Saturday gathering

Celebrate Wood River Saturday Friendship Gathering is scheduled for September 30, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. Michelle Setlik will be presenting a program about Margaret Theresa Mobley. Ms. Setlik is a replacement for Dr. Nathan Tye. Because of a conflict, Dr. Tye had to cancel and he will be scheduled for another date.
