Family, Friends and Freedom is 2024 July 4 parade theme

Shelton will celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, with the parade theme of Family, Friends, and Freedom. The list of events so far includes the 15th Annual 4th of July Shelton Stampede 5K Run/Walk/Mile Fun Run, a sand volleyball tournament, the Kiddie Parade, the annual main parade at 1:30, and ice cream in the park by the Shelton United Methodist Church after the parade.

Open house held for new Gibbon city hall/community center

Members of the community were invited to give the new Gibbon City Hall and Community Center a look on Saturday, June 1, with city employees and dignitaries such as Mayor Deb Van-Matre and city council members Kevin Kraenow and Leon Stall giving tours of the facility from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Gibbon City Administrator Matt Smallcomb and city clerk Pam Rasmussen (left) explain a new interactive map to residents at the open house. Nominations sought for class of 2024 Hall of Fame

Nominations for the Shelton Athletic Hall of Fame and Baseball Hall of Fame are being accepted for the 2024 classes. Recent honorees inducted in 2023 were athletes Kalyn Brannagan, Luke Glenn, and Leo (Tony) Winey. Coach Ron Blase was also a member of the class. Baseball inductees were Matt Gangwish, Scott Holley, and the 2014 Senior Legion Class C state champions.
