Gibbon’s boys golf team competed against a large, tough roster of teams from across the region at the Kearney Catholic Invitational held at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney on Tuesday, April 29. The Buffaloes finished the day 16th with a team score of 437 among the 17 teams taking part. Adams Central posted the lowest team score, a 297, for first place.
According to the March Prospective Plantings report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Nebraska corn farmers are expected to plant 10.6 million acres of corn in 2025. If realized, this would translate to a significant economic investment of nearly $3.1 billion in the state’s economy over a two-month period, as calculated by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s crop budgets. This investment includes inputs such as seed, fuel and fertilizer, but excludes land costs, labor and equipment.
The Gibbon golfers competed at the Adams Central Invitational at Southern Hills Golf Course near Hastings on Tuesday, April 22, and hosted their own invitational on Thursday, April 24, in golf action last week.
