The basketball season came to a close for the Wood River boys on Tuesday, February 25, as the Thayer Central Titans got past the Eagles in the opening round of the C2-7 Subdistrict Tournament, played at Grand Island Central Catholic, 66-49.
The number one seeded Shelton Bulldogs roared past fourth seeded Giltner, 62-18, in the semi-final round of the boys D2-6 Subdistrict Tournament on Tuesday, February 25, to advance to the tournament final to face Kenesaw where they were humbled in a comparatively low scoring battle, 42-55, in the subdistrict final on Thursday, February 27, to end the season for the Bulldogs who compiled a 16-8 record. Both games were played on the court in Shelton.
The fifth seeded Gibbon Buffaloes were outpaced, 60-69, by fourth seeded Minden in the play in round of the C1-7 Subdistrict Tournament held at Cozad on Monday, February 24. The loss ends the Buffaloes’ season with a record of 9-14.
The Overton Eagles paid a visit to the Gibbon boys basketball team on Friday, February 21, and returned home with a 74-67 win in the final regular season contest for the Buffaloes.
