Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cookoff and Street Dance is Saturday

The Ninth Annual Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cookoff and Street Dance is set to be held at Rosen Park at West 4th Street in Gibbon this Saturday, August 12. In addition to the all-you-can-eat cookoff, other activities are planned throughout the day, including live music provided by Luke Mills, Kyle Sayler and Switchbak.

WRCCF awards scholarships to 2023 grads

As the Wood River Rural High 2023 seniors prepare for the next step of their education the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation is proud to announce that sixteen named scholarships were awarded to these seniors valued at $9,250.00. The WRCCF also works with the school in providing part of the funds for the WRCCF Scholar Dollars/ Kinman-Oldfield Trust that were awarded, $5,595.00.

Gibbon Tractor Pull draws large crowd for annual event

The Annual Gibbon Tractor Pull held on the west edge of Gibbon on Friday, August 4, brought out fans in large numbers to see competitors from the area and beyond in ten classes. The event has been held in Gibbon for over fifty years and never fails be a crowd pleaser. See more pictures on page 2. (–photo by Dennis Walker) The sun came out in the afternoon after a cloudy morning just in time for the large crowd that filled the bleachers or brought chairs of their own to enjoy a sun-splashed Annual Gibbon Tractor Pull on Friday, August 4. Tractors and various other vehicles competed in ten classes at the popular event held on the west side of Gibbon. Wood River FunFest delivers on its name

The 2023 edition of Wood River FunFest, with the theme “Aloha From The River,” delivered fun and festivities on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 4, 5 and 6, in Wood River. Activities abounded all weekend long in Wood River and included the annual parade on Saturday the 5th through the community featuring Little Miss and Mr., Addy Gill (above, right) and Jaxon Powell (above, left). Participants from the Wood River Cheer and Dance Camp gave a performance after the parade on Saturday and got the “thumbs up.” See more pictures on page 3.
