THE STORY OF GIBBON

The year 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of the arrival of colonists that would go on to found the community of Gibbon. After a brief respite in January, winter has returned and made up for lost time as snow and brutally cold temperatures have been the order of the day since late last week. Depending on the location in the area, between seven and nearly nine inches of snow fell off and on from Friday evening through Sunday, followed by dangerous below zero temperatures which are projected to continue into the middle of next week. Destination Omaha!

The road to the state wrestling tournament is taking a little detour this season, adding a sub-district tournament to the map. Clipper Country wrestling teams will be competing this Saturday at area sub-district tournaments, then to district tournaments on Saturday, February 13. At each stop, only the top four individuals in each weight class move on, ultimately to the state tournament in Omaha February 17-20.
