The Gibbon Heritage Center Board of Directors was voted as the Grand Marshals for the 2021 Gibbon Independence Day parade to be held this Saturday, July 3. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. and will follow the same route as it has in past years.
As Independence Day grows nearer, so does the complete schedule of activities for the Independence Day celebration in Gibbon with more details being added over the past week.
Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) honors outstanding alumni annually through their Legends and Legacies Alumni Awards. Last year’s recipients were honored at a virtual ceremony in May of 2021. Derek Bombeck, a 2001 graduate of Shelton High School, and 2005 graduate of NWU, was among those named NWU’s 2020 Legends and Legacies Young Alumni Loyalty recipient. “I wasn’t just getting an education, but also gaining a family,” he said.
The Gibbon Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 14, and covered agenda items regarding Nebraska legislative bills affecting the district, Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSR III) funds, and state aid.
