Information on the progress of the fire hall/city hall/community room project was among the agenda items covered by the Gibbon City Council when the council met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 19.
The Heartland United Way and Greater Grand Island Community Foundation are hosting the eighth annual Go Big GIVE day of giving on Thursday, May 6. Go Big GIVE is a 24-hour online giving event where anyone can be a philanthropist by visiting GoBigGIVE.org and making a donation to their favorite participating nonprofit organizations. Each Go Big GIVE gift will grow with match-pool funds and incentive prizes.
Wood River farmer Susie Kleeb recently directed a $2,500 Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation to Stick Creek Kids Child Development Center (SCK), which will use the funds to develop a farm-to-table garden where children will learn where their food comes from, as well as how to plant, tend and harvest vegetables and fruits in the garden.
Entering their third year of selling fresh vegetables and flowers, David and Candi Benge are enjoying their ongoing venture into growing beautiful flowers and fresh, delicious vegetables for area customers on their farm at 11464 Pawnee Road, two miles north of Gibbon.
