Shawn Koehn-Fairbanks, Doris Anderson, Kayla Essink, Leo Van Horn, and Josh Van Pelt have joined the staff at Centura Public School at the beginning of the new school year which began on August 12.
The staff at Wood River Rural High School will have a number of new faces this school year. New staff includes Elizabeth Johnson, Jennifer Pietrzak, Scott Hirchert, Morgan Foltz, Connor Beranek, Matthew Cantrell, and Shelby Allan.
Wood River FunFest 2021 begins this Friday, August 20, and continues on Saturday, August 21, and Sunday, August 22.
The start of school means the end of summer for many, but the Gibbon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department put on an end of summer event for everyone to enjoy. The seventh annual barbecue cookoff and dance was held at Rosen Park, in Gibbon, on Saturday afternoon and evening. The CHI helicopter made a landing at the park with the flight crew giving tours of the aircraft. Ten teams took part in the bbq cookoff, while other vendors were on hand as well.
