Wood River school buildings undergoing safety and security renovations
Beginning over the recent holiday break and continuing through the remaining school year and beyond, the building at Wood River Elementary is undergoing some renovations. “Both the elementary and high school will be updating the front entrances to increase safety and security,” explained Wood River Elementary Principal Kelly Klanecky. “The construction crews started at the elementary the week of December 19 and are hoping to finish the elementary project in the middle of April. Once they finish at the elementary, they will move over to the high school and should have that project completed by the start of the 2023-2024 school year. The goal of both projects is to create safe and secure front entrances as well as to make it clear where the front entrance is at both buildings. At the elementary, this meant tearing out the restrooms by the front doors and relocating them in the main hallway, which required tearing out the old wooden bleachers from the gym. They will be replaced with telescoping bleachers. We will also be gaining a restroom in the nurse’s office, a conference room, and a classroom/office for the ASP/ HAL coordinator.” (–courtesy photos)
