The Gibbon Board of Education covered agenda items such as summer work to be done, a change in livestreaming school athletics and other monthly housekeeping items at the board’s regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, May 14.
Sixteen seniors were promoted during commencement ceremonies held last Saturday, May 9, for the Shelton High Class of 2026.
Hunter Gray was selected as Valedictorian and Joctan Romero Sanchez the Salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2026 at Gibbon High School.
Madden Brabec, Matilda Green, Allie Johnson, Jace Martin, Robert McIntosh, and Kenna Thompson have been named as Valedictorians for the Wood River Rural High School Class of 2026.
Community Service Day was held in Gibbon on Monday, May 4, with students for Gibbon Public School and members of the Gibbon City Council working on various projects throughout the community and doing odd jobs for residents who requested their aid. Some of the projects done by the volunteers included planting nine trees at Rosen Park, painting the deck at Valley View Municipal Golf Course, helping out at Rowe Sanctuary, and helping to plant a plot for the Gibbon Food Pantry at Little Town Gardens.
