Wood River’s girls golf team took to the links at the Gibbon Scramble at Valley View Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday, September 23, and the Lou-Platte Conference meet, held at Centura Hills Golf Course on Friday, September 26, in golf action last week.
A triangular at Loup City on Tuesday, September 23, and a dual on Thursday, September 25, at Sandy Creek dotted the calendar for the Gibbon Lady Buffaloes on the volleyball court last week.
The Doniphan/Trumbull Cardinals proved to be too much for the Gibbon football team on the road at Doniphan as the Buffaloes met defeat, 0-60, on Friday, September 26.
“For the first time in many years we earned a team championship,” exclaimed Wood River cross country head coach Matt Cantrell after the Wood River boys edged the host Ord Chanticleers for first place at the Ord Invitational on Friday, September 26. The Eagles posted a team score of 20 with Ord scoring 22 points.
By scoring in all four quarters and allowing the Hastings St. Cecilia Bluehawks to find the end zone once, the Wood River Eagles improved to 4-1 on the season with a 26-7 win in front of the Wood River home crowd on Friday, September 26.
