The 2025-26 season for the Lady Eagle wrestling team got off to a great start with a home dual win over Aurora last Thursday, December 4, and a top ten finish at the 22 team Doane Invite on Friday, December 5.
Wood River’s Lady Eagle basketball team saw their offense sputter in the season’s first two games of the brand new season as they were defeated by Sandy Creek in the season opener on the road on Thursday, December 4, 20-42, and to visiting Centura on Saturday, December 6, by a 22-46 margin.
The 2025-26 Shelton boys basketball season began with a loss to the Elm Creek Buffaloes on the road, 43-82, on Thursday, December 4, and a dominant win over the Franklin Flyers on Friday, December 5, by a 71-21 score.
On November 18, the Gibbon FBLA Chapter held an Area Chapter Meeting in which Kearney and Wood River FBLA members/ officers attended. Attendees watched a video from the Nebraska FBLA Parliamentarian, Irelyn Bearinger, who explained more about FBLA competitive events and how to become a state officer to members and guests. The meeting also had a guest speaker, Forde Holl, 2025 Gibbon alumnae, who shared about her entrepreneurship business Forde’s Cakes, the current finance internship through the University of Nebraska-Kearney and what it is like to be a college freshman. Everyone enjoyed pie and popcorn as a thank you for attending, a fun Thanksgiving snack to wrap up the meeting.
