The Wood River Lady Eagles went 1-1 on the first day of the Hastings St. Cecilia Tournament held on Tuesday, September 30. They won their first game against Superior, 2517 and 25-22, but fell in their second game of the day to Tri County, 19-25 and 16-25.
Homecoming Week was celebrated Monday, September 29, through Saturday, October 4, at Centura High School. The royalty was announced at the halftime of the football game on Friday, October 3, with the crowning taking place at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. The schedule for the Gibbon girls golf team last week included trips to the Ravenna Invitational at the Ravenna Golf Course on Tuesday, September 30, and the Centura Invitational on Thursday, October 2, at Centura Hills Golf Course.
Hector Bonilla led the way for the Wood River boys cross country team as the sole medal winner at the University of Nebraska (UNK) Invitational on Monday, September 29, where as a team, the Eagles placed ninth with 127 team points out of 50 competing teams, according to head coach Matt Cantrell.
The Shelton football team improved to 2-2 on the season by outlasting Ansley/Litchfield, 36-25, on the field in Shelton on Thursday, September 25.
