Green Plains, Inc., recently announced that construction has begun on the compression infrastructure for its carbon capture and storage initiative in Nebraska, an important step in the company’s ongoing transformation to produce low-carbon, high value biofuels and ingredients. The compression equipment will enable the permanent sequestration of approximately 800,000 tons of biogenic carbon dioxide each year from Green Plains’ three Nebraska facilities in Central City, Wood River and York, keeping the project on track for start-up in the second half of 2025.
