The Gibbon High School speech team consists of Hernan Vargas, competing in Entertainment; Jeremiah Roberts, Informative; Keagan Pickel, Poetry; Luke Olson, Persuasive; Forde Holl, Persuasive; Brooklyn Slone, Duet and Serious Prose; and Kimberly Hernandez, Duet.
Gibbon’s girls basketball team faced off against St. Paul on Monday, February 13, for a C19 Subdistrict match. The Lady Buffaloes were bested, 52-27, in the subdistrict tournament to end the season for the Gibbon ladies.
A nice 57-45 win over the visiting Overton Eagles ended the regular season in an exciting fashion for the Gibbon boys basketball team on Friday, February 17.
Gibbon senior Roman Kolbet wrestled his way to third place at 182 pounds at the District C-4 meet held at Mitchell on Friday and Saturday, February 10 and 11, to qualify for state competition as teammate junior Kreyton Rockefeller competed at the district meet at 170 pounds to land in fourth place and qualify for the state meet in Omaha. The Buffaloes finished eighth as a team in the field of 16 teams.
Gibbon’s girls basketball team ended their regular season schedule with two home games against Southern Valley and Ravenna. The Lady Buffaloes were defeated, 62-27, by Southern Valley on Tuesday, February 7, and were bested by Ravenna, 59-14, on Thursday, February 9.
