Funding campaigns helping with renovations and facility operation

Fundraising: The Stick Creek Kids capital campaign needs just $376,000 more to reach its goal of raising $2 million. The capital campaign will fund renovations to 12,500 square feet within the former Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Wood River, build playgrounds, replace broken concrete parking areas, and provide start-up working capital for the center’s operations as enrollment grows. The SCK team continues to pursue grants but invites everyone to take advantage of the CDAA tax credit opportunity as soon as possible to help the campaign reach the finish line soon! A separate $500,000 Endowment campaign has raised $360,376. The endowment’s principal will remain intact for long-term financial strength; earnings on the fund will enable partial tuition scholarships. The endowment fund will be the Wood River Foundation’s May 2020 Go Big Give beneficiary project.

Secretary of State Evnen reminds candidates of upcoming filing dates

Secretary of State Bob Evnen recently reminded those interested in becoming candidates for seats in this year’s May 12 primary that, “The deadlines are fast approaching for incumbent and non-incumbent candidates to file for the primary election in 2020.” Incumbents are current office holders, regardless of whether the office that they currently hold is the office that they are seeking. Non-incumbents are those who currently do not hold any elective office.
