The Buffalo County Historical Society’s (BCHS) 2020 Annual Meeting, normally held in April, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but good deeds should still be honored and the awards committee met virtually this year. BCHS recently announced the winner of the Eighth Annual Volunteer of the Year Award, which went to Janice Martin, of rural Gibbon.

The Hall County Historical Society dedicated a marker located at the intersection of Holling and Burwick Roads southeast of Wood River Saturday, July 11. The occasion was the culmination of a major undertaking as an Eagle Scout project spearheaded by Aaron Kelly, the Eagle Scout from Grand Island, who addressed the crowd during the ceremony. Mr. Kelly is one of the four quadruplets in the family, all of whom have attained the status of an Eagle Scout. (—photo by Lynn McBride)
