Six candidates will face voters for three seats on the Alda Village Board of Trustees in the November 3 election next week. The names of Zach Mayhew, Jerry Shears, Dan Garlick, Verna Rae Clampitt, Robert Curfman, and Tony Ammon will dot the ballot for Alda residents.
The Gibbon City Council met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 19, and covered mainly routine agenda items overall and monthly reports highlighted the meeting.

Four candidates for the Shelton Board of Education will face voters to fill three seats on that board in Tuesday’s general election. Incumbent Russ Muhlback, incumbent write-in candidate Chris Lewis, and write-in candidates Kay Johnson and Anthony Rolfsmeyer will jockey for votes that day.
The Wood River Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services team trains constantly so that the members have the skill set to save a life with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other lifesaving techniques if needed. Sometimes, even with all the tools, a successful outcome is not accomplished, but it’s important to give every patient the best possible chance. Recently the team was able to make a difference and use their skills to save a life. When that happens the State of Nebraska recognizes the team for their accomplishments.
