The Cairo Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual Smorgasbord this Saturday, March 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cairo Community Center. This year’s smorgasbord will be dine in and drive thru. There will be no presale tickets, just pay in the drive thru when you pick up your meal or at the door.
The Gibbon Board of Education discussed safety and personnel issues when the board met for its regular monthly meeting om Tuesday, March 8.
The Shelton girls basketball team hoisted the runner-up trophy high above their heads after a 29 game season culminating with a week-long run at the state tournament. The girls won their first two games in the tournament before a loss to the Humphry/Lindsay Holy Family Lady Bulldogs last Saturday morning. Gibbon Elementary partnered with the Gibbon Public Library (GPL) during the week of February 28 through March 4 for some activities to celebrate Read Across America Week. Miss Annie from GPL visited the preschool classroom on Wednesday, March 2, to read a book to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Also on Wednesday, Miss Annie worked with the elementary side of the building to give the students a Dr. Seuss Storybook Walk. The Storybook Walk was set up for all elementary classrooms. With the help of high school students elementary readers also played Book Bingo.
Shelton Public School kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year will be held on Friday, March 25.
