Shelton’s Jaylea Pope earns state speech championship in Extemporaneous
Shelton High School senior Jaylea Pope earned the Class D1 State Championship in Extemporaneous at the NSAA Speech Championships held at Kearney High School on Friday, March 18. Pope wrote a total of four speeches for the state competition. With her first place finish, Jaylea qualifies for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions. Shelton High took five contestants in three events to the state speech meet. Jaylea is the first Shelton speech champion since 2015 when Jake Senff was the Class D1 Champion in Extemporaneous speaking and D1 runner-up in Entertainment speaking.
