Shelton netters fall to Cross County, bring home TVC Championship

Both senior Giovanny Hernandez and junior Kaleigh Pracht turned in times at the Class C4 District cross country meet on Wednesday, October 15, that qualified them to race against the best of the best cross country runners at the NSAA Cross Country Championships in Kearney.
The Gibbon Lady Buffaloes battled the Wood River Lady Eagles and the Ravenna Lady Bluejays in the LouPlatte Conference Tournament held last week.
Wood River’s Hector Bonilla and Yanathan Perez raced to top five finishes at the Class D4 district cross country meet held at Camp Kitari near McCool Junction on Thursday, October 16, to qualify to run at the state meet this week. As a team, the Eagle boys placed fourth with 33 team points. Doniphan/ Trumbull was district champion with 14 team points.
The Wood River volleyball team started last week off against the Gibbon Lady Buffaloes in the bunny bracket of the LouPlatte Conference Tournament on Monday, October 13, in St. Paul. It took four sets, but number eight seed Wood River bested number nine seed Gibbon, 25-18, 25-14, 22-25, and 25-21.
