Field events, relays shine for Centura track and field teams at Wood River Invitational

The girls pole vault and high jump provided gold and silver medals for the Lady Centurion competitors and the relay races benefitted the Centura boys team with gold and silver medals as the Centura boys and girls track and field teams took on the field at the Wood River Invitational held on Tuesday, April 2. The Centura boys placed seventh with 34 points among the nine teams at the meet and the Lady Centurions finished the day in seventh place with 39 points in the nine team field.

Wood River golfers compete twice in opening week

The Wood River boys golf team had Mother Nature to thank for the delayed start of the season, but were able to compete twice last week to start the season. The Eagles traveled to Loup City on Thursday, April 4, and after a 20 minute delay due to some ice, the season got under way, and on Friday, April 5, Wood River hosted their own Wood River Invite in Cairo at Centura Hills Golf Course.

Gibbon teams earn a bevy of hardware at Franklin

The Franklin Invitational held on Tuesday, April 2, although cold and windy, allowed the Gibbon girls and boys track and field teams ample opportunities to earn hardware and made good on several of those opportunities by bringing home a good number of medals. The girls team finished the meet in fifth place with 47 points out of the 12-team field and the Buffalo boys finished in a three-way tie for sixth place with Deshler and Loomis.
