Wood River’s boys wrestler managed a 2-3 record at the Wood River Holiday Duals on Friday, December 30. The Eagles defeated Gibbon and Scotus Catholic but fell to Aquinas Catholic, Raymond Central and Syracuse to go 2-3 on the day.
Wood River’s Lady Eagle wrestling team competed at the Summerland Invitational on Monday, December 19. Wood River racked up five medals on their way to a third place team finish out of 21 teams.
Every five days a child between the ages of 0 and 19 is killed in a train collision.
Shelton Elementary recently announced the December winners in the “Shelton Kid Caught with Character” program. At the beginning of each month, elementary students learn about a character trait and have the rest of the month to practice it. At the end of the month, one student from each grade (kindergarten through sixth grade) are chosen as the “Shelton Kid Caught with Character” winners. Students will be able to take a yard sign home for the month, displaying their hard work and character. Members of Pathway Bank, of Cairo, were at the Wood River Rural High School last Monday, December 12, to present new FFA members their blue jackets. FFA advisor Kiley Codner stated, “We appreciate our friends at Pathway Bank, of Cairo, for sponsoring seven new FFA jackets.
