The Shelton Lady Bulldog volleyball team brought home some hardware after finishing runner-up at the tournament hosted in Overton on Saturday, August 26, after a busy first week of the season.
After trailing at halftime and throughout the third quarter, the Gibbon football team mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter to post a 15-8 victory over the visiting Hershey Panthers on Friday, August 25, for the season’s first win. “I thought it was a great team performance,” Gibbon High head football coach Steve Yockey.
After a fairly even first half, the Amherst defense clamped down on the visiting Wood River Eagles and shut down the Eagle offense to defeat them, 56-21, in the first contest on the gridiron for both teams on Friday, August 25.
Centura head volleyball coach Shawn Fairbanks sees the potential in his 2023 version of the team to contend for a conference and district title after a 25-7 record last season, being LouPlatte Conference regular season champions, finishing in second place in the conference and finishing last season as runner-up in the State Class C2-9 tournament in 2022.
Despite a season-ending injury to a key returning starter, Shelton High head football coach Ryan Province remains optimistic about the 2023 season, which begins today (Thursday).
