High speed pursuit ends in Shelton with arrest of three adults

A high speed pursuit that began in Kearney and ensued eastbound along Highway 30 through Gibbon, ended on the west edge of Shelton on Wednesday morning, April 15, and resulted in the arrest of three adults who attempted to evade law enforcement officers, including Shelton Police Chief Ryan Clark, Kearney Police, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol, on foot after their car came to rest in the ditch south of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and on the east side of the Shelton Road-10-D crossing.

Beginning with this edition, The Clipper will begin a twopart feature highlighting local candidate races. This week’s spotlight is on candidates for Gibbon mayor. Kenneth Mayfield, Johnathan Pearson, Ron Robinson, and Deb VanMatre are all on the May 12 primary ballot. All candidates were mailed the same questionnaire with identical questions with the answers to be published in this week’s issue. Clipper staff members reached out to candidates by mail, telephone and email as needed in order to get responses from the candidates to present their opinions and views in this week’s feature.

COVID-19 Essential Heroes

Katie is the Infection Control Coordinator at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, New York, and has been working 16-18 hour days since the virus started in her area. So far, none of the over 500 residents of the facility have tested positive for the virus. Although Katie is sleep deprived, she is determined to keep the residents safe and healthy. “Katie and others like her are so deserving of the prayers being said for them and are able to keep up their hectic schedules because of them. Everyone keep praying,” wrote Cathi.
