Platte Valley Academy celebrating 100 year history

Shelton alumni and their families had planned to gather with other alumni on April 24, 25 and 26, at the Leadership Retreat Center in Aurora for the Platte Valley Academy’s 100 year homecoming celebration. Unfortunately, COVID-19 concerns forced the cancellation of that event. Regardless, the Adventist school which stood just east of Shelton for 90 years turned 100 years old recently.

With the nation at a standstill, planning for the new child center facility in Wood River continues. In July 2019, the Wood River Vision 2020, Inc., purchased the Good Samaritan nursing home, located at 1401 East Street, and has been working on design and renovation plans to convert the north half of the facility into the Stick Creek Kids Child Development Center.

Wood River Methodist Church to host blood drive

The Wood River Methodist Church is scheduled to host a bloodmobile on Tuesday, April 14, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. As of Sunday, there are a total of 21 slots to fill, not counting those who will not be able to keep appointments due to illness, work and other commitments. In addition to the usual single donation stations there will be two double machines that will be available for those who would like to give doubles.

In this time where our lives are put on hold for the greater good of ourselves, our families, and our friends, The Clipper staff is still diligently working to give our communities a little bit of normalcy and hope by continuing to produce your hometown newspaper. At the present time, our work schedules have changed very little, but our lobby is closed. What we are able to cover has changed dramatically without school and social activities happening each week, and we are not venturing out as much.
