SPS teachers hold parade to spread positivity to students

Staff and administrators at Shelton Public School organized a teacher parade on Thursday, April 23, to wave and smile at students around the community while practicing social distancing. The parade with vehicles sporting signs with messages for the students, began in the school parking lot and wound through town and the adjoining countryside. Eight candidates hope for seat on Wood River Board of Education

This week, The Clipper features a second local candidate race, spotlighting candidates for the Wood River Board of Education. Eight candidates will face voters on Tuesday, May 12, Ann Woitaszewski, Craig Huxtable, Dylan Gill, Mark Codner, Kyle Allan, Kris Price, Jodi Rauert and Kipp English. All candidates were mailed the same questionnaire with identical questions with the answers to be published in this week’s issue. Clipper staff members reached out to candidates by mail, telephone and email as needed in order to get responses from the candidates to present their opinions and views in this week’s feature.

The Shelton School Board “met” via video conference for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 13, one of the many adjustments to regular life that are becoming normal due to the coronavirus epidemic. As is the case with all school districts, the final quarter of the school year has been conducted on-line and at-home for the students, their families, and the Shelton teachers.

High speed pursuit ends in Shelton with arrest of three adults

A high speed pursuit that began in Kearney and ensued eastbound along Highway 30 through Gibbon, ended on the west edge of Shelton on Wednesday morning, April 15, and resulted in the arrest of three adults who attempted to evade law enforcement officers, including Shelton Police Chief Ryan Clark, Kearney Police, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol, on foot after their car came to rest in the ditch south of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and on the east side of the Shelton Road-10-D crossing.
