The Gibbon wrestling team completed, and competed, in a busy weekend of action last week, participating in the St. Paul Duals Tournament on Friday, January 9, then getting back on the bus Saturday morning, January 10, to head to the Amherst Invite. Both stops were successful for the Buffaloes.
Riding a number of top five finishes, the Lady Eagle wrestling team began the new year with a second place finish at the Fillmore Central Invitational held at Geneva on Friday, January 2. The Wood River ladies finished the day with 155.5 team points. Adams Central won the invitational with 219 team points.
The Gibbon boys wrestling team finished the Wood River Holiday Duals on Saturday, January 3, with a record of 3-2 for a fifth place finish among the eight teams making the trip to Wood River. The team from Pierce took first place on the day.
At the Ravenna Holiday Tournament, the Shelton boys basketball team finished with a loss to Overton, 64-68, on Monday, December 29, but came back for a 62-37 pasting of Palmer on Tuesday, December 30, in the third and fourth place game.
Wood River’s girls basketball team took part in the annual Runza Holiday Classic Tournament held at different sites December 22 through 30. The Eagle ladies were recipients of a first round bye before moving on to host Cross County on Monday, December 29, where they were bested by the Cougars, 30-41.
