Buffaloes defeat Centurions for homecoming gridiron win

A homecoming win for the Gibbon Buffaloes came at the expense of the visiting Centura Centurions by a 35-13 score on Friday, October 9.

“We are really proud of the way we played in all 3 phases of the game,” said co-head coach Jeff Montgomery. “Centura had been on a roll the last three weeks. It was a big win and a big step forward for our program.”

Coach Montgomery added, “Offensively we were able capitalize on a few opportunities and get in the end zone. The hook and ladder and a great punt by Konner Hyde inside the five were big plays in flipping field position early in the game. Another key – after Centura made the score 15-7 we were able to answer with our own touchdown to stay up by two scores. Jesus Hernandez really stepped up his game in filling in for Sean. He played hurt late in the game but should be fine for next week.”
