With third district trophy in three years, Shelton boys going to state

“In my opinion, this is one of the toughest Class D districts in the state,” said Matt Walter, the Bulldogs’ coach, after the Shelton boys qualified as a team at the district cross country meet in Hastings Thursday, October 17.

Out of the 14 teams entered, Shelton garnered the second-place trophy with 47 points, just 11 short of St. Paul’s winning score of 36 and 24 ahead of Gibbon’s third-place total of 71. Individually, Ry Cheney’s fourth place, along with Ethan Dack’s 15th, would have qualified them for the state meet as well, if the team had not qualified.
