DCB Seniors win four of five recent games
The DCB Seniors turned a hectic schedule of five games in nine days into a favorable experience by winning four of those outings, one of which was a 10-inning marathon.
The extra-inning affair took place against Twin Plains on the Boelus field Sunday, July 7, after each team opened the scoring in the second inning by getting two runs. The visitors edged ahead by one in the third frame, only to be answered in the fifth by the DCB home team. Twin Plains made a statement in the seventh inning by plating three runs, only to see DCB match that with three of their own, sending the game into extra innings. Those three Twin Plains runs came on one of the five DCB errors in the game, along with an ensuing tworun homer. DCB answered when Elijah Boersen rapped a run-scoring double and was then driven home when Austin Simmons launched the second pitch of his atbat over the fence. Boersen ended the day with a twofor- four game at the plate, driving in two runs, and scoring three on his own.
