DCB Seniors make it a clean sweep on way to state title

DCB’s (Dannebrog/Cairo/ Boelus) Legion Seniors swept their way to a championship in the state tournament held at Syracuse last week, winning all five games played. Although having qualified for the tourney four consecutive years, the title is the first in the history of DCB Legion baseball.

It wasn’t an easy task, which is probably fitting at this level. DCB fought from a deficit in three of the five wins. An extra significance might be that two of the victories came over Pender, a team that beat last year’s DCB team twice;j, taking them out of the doubleelimination tournament. The championship game last week resulted in a 4-1 DCB win as Pender was held scoreless for the first six innings.
