Bulldog runners impress in cross country opener

“Our efforts were not too shabby,” were Coach Matt Walter’s words after the twilight cross country meet Friday, August 30, at Fort Kearney Recreation Area. “We have a lot of work to do, but it was a great starting point,” continued Walter.

Ry Cheney and Jaylynn Ohlman led their respective teams across the finish line. Cheney opened his senior season with a winning time of 18:25, just steps ahead of the next two finishers, both from Gibbon. Angel Lehn joined that pace, coming in fourth with a time of 18:49. The top five runners in the boys’ race finished less than a second apart.
